Snow Day Policies and Proceedures

Should it be necessary to cancel school due to a snow day, natural disaster such as flooding, severe storm, earthquake, or lack of heat or electricity, the following procedures will be used to notify school personnel, parents, and students:
We will be closed for the day whenever the Colfax District (530-346-2284 ext 2185) declares “School Cancelled,” “Snow Day,” or “Modified Snow Day.”

The information for the Colfax School District closing will be available on the following radio and television stations:
• Check television stations KCRA 3, KXTV 10, KOVR 13, or KTXL 40; or radio stations KAHI-AM 950 or KNCO-AM 830 for closure information.
• Check then click on the School Closure list
• Follow up by calling 530-346-2284 x2185 to check on the Colfax District Announcement for closure.
• Please follow up by checking our web page for any details regarding Live Oaks closure at our school website
It may often appear that the weather conditions in Meadow Vista/Applegate would support keeping the school open, yet many of the individuals in our community live at higher elevations.  They are more affected by severe weather, and the trip to and from school can be hazardous.

The goal will be to have the information posted to this web site by 6:45a.m. Parents should call their class parent if they are unsure of school being open.  Should it be necessary to close school once the school day has begun, the daytime phone tree for each class will be activated.
